Animals that talk with their expressive eyes

Humans aren’t the only species capable of expressing emotions through their eyes. Many animals, domestic and wild, can also talk with their eyes and show a wide range of emotions. Here we mention some of them.

Dogs are one of the most expressive animals, and they really do talk with their eyes. Be it happiness in their eyes and tail, or the sadness of their ‘puppy eyes’, they know how to show their feelings.

While cats are thought of as emotionless creatures who are only interested in ‘royal treatment’ and food, these cute pets also show emotions and talk through their eyes.

Horses too have large, expressive eyes that can communicate with their people. Their eyes can show if they are calm, curious, anxious, or scared.

Elephants are extremely human-like. They grieve, play, engage with their siblings, and love living in a community. And so, their eyes too show if they are sad, happy, feeling dull, and much more.

The large eyes of the Owls look oh-so-mysterious. They have an intense gaze that feels like it is piercing through us and can also show sadness, excitement, and curiosity with their eyes.

Dolphins are social, friendly creatures, and their eyes play a big role in their communication. They use their eyes to engage with each other and with humans, making eye contact that can feel almost like a conversation.
